STAND IN THE PLACE WHERE YOU LIVE
Level M co-authored a grant for $150,000 to produce Hudson Rising in partnership with I LOVE NY and the New York State Department of Economic Development. Hudson Rising, a summer long sustainability celebration and river tour. Roger served as the event director, produced the website and social media platform, helping to draw 11,000 people to the waterfront of river cities. Hudson Rising included heritage ships, local foods, environmental stewards, and films and talks about catalyst projects that are transforming communities. The popular band R.E.M. also granted the event the tagline: “Stand in the place where you live”. Hudson Rising was made possible from a broad collaborative of green groups, business, local and state agencies and a grant from the New York State Department of Economic Development and I LOVE NY. See Facebook page for more information.
The event centerpiece was the restored covered barge, Pennsy 399. Inside historians, environmental stewards, and entrepreneurs gave talks about the transformations of the river cities. The idea of local history as an organic asset attracted National Parks Service, who became an event sponsor and used the flotilla to promote its Washington–Rochambeau Revolutionary Route across the Hudson River.
